Two Semi-Conductor Clean Rooms
As a manufacturer of film for semi-
conductors, our client needed to maintain
a carefully balanced environment to
create a flawless product. In need of a
clean room for their New Jersey facility,
the Korean-based company called on
Monsen Engineering to design and install
a class 10,000 film slitting clean room and
a class 100,000 packaging room within
their existing warehouse.
C
HALLENGE
The project posed two challenges. The
first was to design a “room within a
room," which required working within the
confines of the existing building to create
a seamless expansion. The second was to
meet a six-month deadline that included
outfitting the entire project with
peripheral equipment to support the
installation of manufacturing equipment
from Korea.
S
OLUTION
Throughout the design phase, our
engineers worked closely with our client’s
engineering team to guarantee an efficient
manufacturing process.
The project required that our team select
and procure peripheral equipment such
as: pneumatic system, air shower,
automatic shutter doors, storage racking,
automatic pallet wrapping machine,
electric fork lift, and monorail hoist
system. In addition, our team was
responsible for rigging and assembling
the equipment shipped from Korea.
Upon completion, Monsen brought in
independent commissioning experts to
confirm that each room was operating
as expected. Our client’s marketing
group then used the commissioning
report to demonstrate the superior
quality of the environment in which they
produce their products.
R
ESULTS
Monsen’s effective design/build process
kept the project on time and within
budget. To ensure a successful outcome,
we performed commissioning throughout
all phases of the project. Most important,
Monsen’s single-source strategy
exceeded our client’s expectations for a
sophisticated manufacturing facility
where they have secured substantial
orders for their product from Fortune 100
companies.
