VOLUME 2, FALL 2005
Monsen Brings You the Economic,
Energy, and Environmental Benefits
of Turbocor Compressors
According to studies performed by
the Building Owners and Managers
Association (BOMA), more than half
of all tenants complain about
discomfort. Studies also show that if
a tenant complains about comfort
three times in one year, the chances
of losing the tenant at the end of the
lease is more than 50%.
Without a doubt, building managers
face many critical HVAC issues. In
response to the challenges of rising
HVAC costs, environmental
concerns, and energy efficiency,
Monsen Engineering is now a
network contractor for Turbocor
compressorsthe most reliable,
cost-effective HVAC compressors
available today.

Turbocor's lightweight, oil-free
compressors significantly reduce
operating costs and environmental
emissions. Turbocor compressors,
however, do much more than save
you money. In fact, there are six
specific areas where you reap
immediate benefits when you switch
over to a Turbocor compressor:
1. Efficiency
2. Reliability
3. Ease of maintenance
4. Sound levels
5. Remote monitoring
6. Environmental responsibility

Yesterday's compressor technology
is no longer adequate in today's
high-priced energy market. A
Turbocor compressor is 33% more
efficient than other compressors in
its size range. In addition, Turbocor
compressors offer up to 50%
operating savings compared to
many traditional compressors. This
exceptional performance can be
monitored, either on site or remotely,

How You Benefit from Turbocor Compressors
Monsen helps find missing children for Project Home Again
Monsen Engineering is participating in the nationwide Project Home Again program with the hopes that we can
help locate missing children. This program will assist the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in its
nationwide search for missing children.
Monsen will display posters of local missing children on our service vehicles. Since these vehicles travel frequently
around the tri-state area, we hope that many people will see the posters, recognize the children, and help bring
those children back home. Each poster includes a photo of the child at the time he or she was first reported
missing, biographical information, and numbers to call if anyone has information regarding the childs whereabouts.
Monsen is proud to be a participant in this extremely worthwhile program; we urge everyone in the community to
look for the posters on our service vehicles and keep an eye out for the missing children. Poster programs have
proven to be extremely effective in locating missing children, and Monsen hopes our partnership with Project Home
Again will significantly contribute to this success rate.

ELIABILITY
HVAC compressors are traditionally
vulnerable to problems. Turbocor's
compressors, however, are centrifugal
machines with only one moving part.
This results in enhanced reliability and
longer service intervals. Also,
Turbocor compressors are designed
with a "built-in" redundancy feature,
which safeguards against system
malfunctions.

AINTENANCE
Turbocor compressors can
significantly reduce your HVAC
maintainance needs, and in some
cases, cut it in half. The oil-free
design means no oil inspections, no
oil or filter replacements, and no
expensive repairs with extended
downtime. All you need to do is:
change four capacitors once
every five years;
tighten the electrical connections
once a quarter; and
annually dust off and clean the
electronic cards.
These minimal requirements save you
time, money, and free up your staff
for other projects!

Q
UIET
Turbocor compressors are the quietest
in the industry because of their unique
rotary centrifugal design and patented
magnetic bearings system. These ultra
quiet, vibration-free compressors
reduce noise complaints and decrease
tenant turnover rates.

ONITORING
It's a fact: Office buildings are getting
larger while facility staffs are getting
smaller. That's why Turbocor
compressors are computers you can
"talk to." This feature allows you to
monitor your compressor 24/7
centrally or remotely.

ESPONSIBILITY
Turbocor compressors are cost-
effective and environmentally friendly.
The oil-free, high-efficiency nature of
the compressor is environmentally
sound. In addition, a Turbocor system
can help you earn points toward
LEED certification or receive
recognition under the EPA's Energy
Star Buildings Program. Ultimately, a
Turbocor compressor gives you an
edge in environmental leadership and
can be used to market your building to
environmentally conscious tenants.

Frequently Asked Questions . . . Automation
What is Building Automation.
Building Automation enables facilities to be managed
by sophisticated electronics. These intelligent
buildings" are designed so that the HVAC
environment, lighting, and security systems perform
at the highest efficiency possible.
How does a building automation system work.
BASs are computer-driven to control such HVAC-
related issues as temperature, humidity, airflow, and
equipment operation. In addition to helping you make
more informed decisions regarding the conditions of
your facility, a BAS monitors and controls the day-to-
day operation of your buildings HVAC, safety,
lighting, and security systems.
What are the benefits of a BAS.
A BAS offers you precise control, accurate and timely
data, speed in decision making, and more comfortable
and productive work environments. It also contributes
to energy efficiency and cost savings.
In addition, automation enables field technicians to be
dispatched via handheld PCs. From any location, the
technician can diagnose the problem and electronically
record the tasks he performed.
What are the challenges of a BAS.
The biggest challenge is keeping up with technology.
Fortunately, todays BAS technology offers more
powerful, user friendly systems that reduce the need
for outside support. Expect powerful, yet simpler,
systems that improve energy efficiency and comfort.
